Coalville's new DOR reflects on his first few months at the helm

It has now been three months since I have joined the club, After a playing career that took me to Leicester Tigers, Coventry, Oyonnax, Doncaster and Bucharest, how have I found myself at the memorial ground. Truth be told an opportunity in the real world post rugby was offered to me and bought me and my wife Donna back to the area, after catching up with an old friend and Coalville hero Jon Neville the ball started rolling to get me involved at Coalville rugby club. After discussions with Paul Macmillan and Glynn Harding and seeing the great facilities and potential this club has, it was something I was excited to be part of.

We are into our third week of the season and I thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce myself and to give you an update on what I have been working on and my aims for the coming season.

The main focus of my work over the last 12 weeks has been revamping the senior section and introducing a complete new ethos that the rest of the club can look up to. The 1st xv and 2nd team season is shaping up to be very exciting and whilst we are not underestimating our opponents or the challenges ahead, we are aiming for a top four finish and we would welcome your support along the way! The senior playing sides have been restructured for the coming season to suit the needs of the club, but also to provide a clearer pathway for player development and stronger foundations for the future of the club.

The club is in a great position at the moment, and I am very excited about the next year ahead. My season aims are to increase the amount of adult teams playing at the club, to enhance the development of coaches and engage the local community with the club and to see the Saturday and Sunday clubs come together to form a real community club, with strong professional values that can go on to be a standard setting rugby club for all ages and abilities across the county.

I am always keen to talk to any of our supporters, parents, players, and coaches so please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or you would like any more information.
