Memorial ground side avenge early season defeat with welcome 4 points

Coalville welcomed Belgrave to the Memorial Ground last saturday in the return fixture looking to avenge the defeat from earlier in the season. The hosts almost had a full squad to pick from this week with Jordan Gadsby,Will Keeling,James Huntley,Matt Chamberlain and George Blackburn all returning, the only exception being the absence of Will Quail.
Coalville had the breeze behind them in the first half and put the elements to good use as Blackburn and Keeling kicked well into the corners to gain firm territory for the various moves.A rolling maul some twenty metres out saw Eddie Rotstein peel of the back to touch down with Blackburn adding a difficult kick for 7-0 with 11 mins gone.Coalville were dominant in all phases of the game as the visitors were hanging on for dear life with some desperate defence, however conceding a few penalties in the process. On the half hour the hosts finally broke through the Belgrave resistance as once again Rotstein touched down for 12-0 as the conversion was missed. The one occassion that the visitors did progress into the Coalville half proved fruitful as Josh Barrett pulled a score back, the conversion was missed for 12-5 on 36mins.The half time whistle came with no addition to the score.
A change for Coalville as on came Andy Hurst at the restart, the Belgrave side now with the breeze in their favour put Coalville back into the 22 for long periods as they probed for an opening only to find Coalville in no mood to give up any scores,a missed penalty in front of the posts the only effort summed up their day.A harsh yellow card on 55 mins for Chamberlain gave the visitors hope of a score but once again the hosts defended well.Into the final quarter and Gadsby's solo effort "try" was disallowed for some reason not known to the 100 or so crowd.Belgrave again put the pressure on with 10mins to go with a 23 phase assault on the home sides line but a loose pass was hacked on by Joe Moretta and with no one at home Jack Follows put his footballing skills to good use to win the race to touch down, unfortunately the conversion was missed 17-5 to Coalville, two more changes for the last 10mins brought on Will Clare & Wes Syed to see the game out for Coalville.
After the match a spokesman said 'A tight game overall but a well earned victory for Coalville which puts us in sixth spot and still in with a chance of a play off place".
Coalville in action again away at Bugbrooke on the 26th of January KO 2.15pm.
