Last minute fixture change!

We were due to play Keyworth today at home, however, a late last minute cancellation of the fixture due to illness on Saturday meant we were left with no-one to play.
Fortunately, the coaches here at Coalville weaved their magic & found a team willing to play us at such short notice. That team was Burton.

We have not played them for a couple of years (Under 9's) and even then it was at a festival so driving over to Burton and playing their was a new experience for all.
We all met up at the club in the centre of the town and then made the short 5 minute walk over to the playing fields.

The weather prior to the fixture was atrocious, cold and wet and we thought it could be a long morning but fortunately the rain stopped as we arrived.
When we got there, we met up with the coaches and thanked them for taking the fixture. They said it was no problem as they were desperate for a game as they had been subject to multiple cancellations over the last 6 weeks.

We turned up with 12 players and they had 10.
2 games were played, 20 minutes each.

Burton had one very strong, fast player that did really well and burst through our defence and scored a couple of fantastic tries. We countered that ourselves with some strong kicking, not dissimilar to England v France.
Our running game was also strong and we scored several tries this way.
Defensive move of the day came when their player burst through and was about to put the ball down at the start of the game but we managed to hold the ball up and not let him put it down.

Having had a tough game against Stoneygate a couple of weeks ago this was a great way to bounce back.
If we can work on spreading our play across the field and stretching the play a bit more, we could be onto something special.
