Coalville vs Kenilworth

Coalville Ladies RFC had their first game of the season at home on Sunday and what a first game it was! After a year out the team are back in the National Challenge Midlands North 2 League and won the first game against Kenilworth 5-0. It was a forwards dominated game which was reflected in the two players of the match both being from the back row; Beth Hillier and Alice Birr.

It was a scoreless first half with both sides’ defences holding strong with some heavy tackling. Finally the deadlock was broken around the 60 minute mark. A series of penalties to Coalville led to a tap and go, a couple of forwards balls with Beth crashing over the line for the try. Only minutes later Coalville were denied a second try when Katie 'Radders' Radley was held up over the line after some brilliant running by Sheree Wright, Beth and then Alice. The team now look forwards to their next game on the 18th away against Longton.
