Home side serve up a first half treat

Ashbourne were the visitors to the Memorial ground last saturday as 3rd played 2nd in Midlands 2 East(North). With near on a full squad to choose from,Coalville's head coach Ben Toft was spoilt for choice and certainly got it spot on as the home side notched ten tries in recording a 64-22 victory.
In front of a 150 plus crowd the hosts got off to a flying start as Sam Massarella,Jack Wickwar and Joe Rumming crossed the whitewash in the first ten minutes with Will Keeling landing a conversion for 17 -0.But a mistake on fifteen minutes let in Ashbourne for a soft try.Into the 2nd quarter and Coalville struck again being awarded a penalty try followed by four more tries before the interval,Jack Tointon,Eddie Rotstein and Wickwar the scorers,Keeling converting all the scores.Tointon sustained an injury on 35 minutes though and was replaced by Isaac Grewcock. The half time score stood at 52-5 to the home side.
More changes for Coalville at the restart Ash Lynds and Matt Chamberlain making way for Chris Flanagan and Stewart Tang, the visitors also had to make changes all be it enforced ones losing their complete front row to injuries, and the game having to go to uncontested scrums, much to the dismay of the Coalville team as they had held the upperhand for the whole of the first half.Ashbourne were the first on the scoreboard in the half with a breakaway score under the posts. On the hour mark Chamberlain back on for a blood injury touched down for Coalville's ninth try..The visitors got a couple of quick tries themselves to earn a 4try bonus point. In the final minute Zak Fellows added Coalville's tenth try of the afternoon to close out the match.Billy Measures spokesman for the hosts said after the game "a real shame to go to uncontested scrums at half time, after our first half performance, but a win is what we were looking for at the start".
Coalville next in action on October 19th away at Ashfield.
