Coalville v Pinley. Clear progression people!!!

With the team and parents standing outside at the Loughborough festival last week and suffering all weather and all seasons, it was brilliant this morning to wake up and see the sun is shining!!! Get in.

Out go the coaches with their shorts and t-shirt on only to find its not quite as warm as it looks. Either way, it was just on the right side of cold for some fantastic rugby conditions.

We had an amazing 16 players today. Pinley arrived at the Memorial ground with 14. All our teams upto and including Under 11's are mixed teams with both boys and girls more than welcome. We are lucky enough to have 3 excellent girl players in our side.
Having said this, this is the first time we have played a mixed team and the opposition had arrived and played with more girl players than us. Pinley had 5 girls today, all of a great standard.

We played 2 x 20 minute games today and then at the end we mixed the teams up and had a 10 minute match at the end.
All of the games were played with a fantastic spirit and in the right way.

During the first 2 games, Coalville scored 11 tries.
As your match reporter, I have to say that I hadn't seem them play for a couple of weeks but the progression made has been stark.
The level of communication between team mates has increased dramatically. Defending in straight lines and setting up in diagonal lines when having the ball.
Our tactical kicking in particular has also stepped up, with one telepathic cross field kick resulting in a try by an on running Coalville player.

However, our first try was scored by one of our forward players who burst through the pack and did a roly poly in to the try scoring area.

A selfless try scored by the two girls , one of whom passed at the end when she could of scored her self was also good to see.

It was also nice to see a new try scorer on the score sheet, with a nice run across the pitch to put the ball down in the area.

It was fantastic to see all the players in action and we are now looking forward to the finals day in Melton next week.
