Coalville have continued to focus on recruiting home grown talent, with Ben Spokes returning to the club where he started his playing career, joining as head coach with immediate effect.
Spoke has been most recently playing at Liberty Way, home of Nuneaton in the Midlands Premier. The front row player has an impressive 200 National League games under his belt, turning out for the like of Leicester Lions, Rugby Lions and Birmingham Solihull over the previous 10 years.
Having started his career at Coalville, his potential was identified by Northampton Saints, where he appeared for their second team before injuries curtailed his opportunity.
On his return to the club, Spokes says "I'm excited to be coming back to Coalville for the next chapter in my career. It's a great club with fantastic facilities and I look forward to taking my first steps on the coaching ladder and getting to work with the squad. The club has really progressed over the past few seasons both on and off the field so it's exciting times to come on board."
Spokes will up the First XV, alongside Gareth Turner who continues in his role as Skills and Defence Coach, both under the guidance of Ben Toft. Director of Rugby, Toft, said "when the chance came to get someone with Ben's experience in the changing room, we moved quickly to make it happen. We are working hard behind the scenes in preparation for a positive season."
