The home side put an inexperienced Olney side away for a comfortable Cup win

Coalville progressed to the Quarter Finals of the Midlands Intermediate Cup with a comprehensive victory over Olney at the weekend.
The Memorial ground side were soon on the score board after Billy Measures finished off a multi-phase move started by a scintillating run from Jordan Gadsby on 4mins. A sense of deja vu as it was Measures again, this time ghosting through the Olney rearguard to dot down on 10 mins for 12-0. Despite Coalville's dominance, chances went begging with the home back's not showing the clinical edge needed. Despite this, both Danny Freer and Jordan Gadsby added a try apiece before the visitors opened their account just before the break for a 24-7 half time score.

Another try for the visitors straight from the kick-off brought them back into the game for a 10 minute spell. There young fit team, moved the ball well to stretch Coalville, putting the hosts under the cosh. However, the previous winners of the cup settled into the second half, with flashes of quality from Matt Twigg and J.Gadsby showing the difference in class as both crossed the whitewash in quick succession to stretch the home teams lead to 34-12. Olney grabbed another try on 66mins, but it was a case of to little to late, as Coalville closed the game out with two late tries from Freer and J.Gadsby, with the latter earning a well deserved hat trick. The kicking duties went to J.Gadsby who landed 3 conversions for a tally of 21points.
The performance showed the depth that is growing within the squad with firsts starts of the season for Daniel Claypole, Matt Chamberlain, Jake Nash and Jacob Samuels, all giving good accounts of themselves.
Will Quail the captain of Coalvllie said "5 changes from the previous week, but still played some excellent rugby against an Olney side that kept on to the very end."

Coalville are at back in league action this Saturday, hosting Dronfield kick-off 2.15pm.
