A strong defensive performance from Coalville sealed victory in a closely fought contest at local rivals Loughborough at the weekend.The visitors gave Nathan Harrison his first start on the wing and his first job was a try saving tackle just short of the try line,the danger was cleared by a George Blackburn kick to half way.Coalville then settled down to put some fine moves together and in the tenth minute Matt Twigg dotted down after a line out twentyfive metres out for 5-0.Loughborough then lost a player to the sin bin for a deliberate knock on and Coalville stretched their lead to 10-0,Joe Moretta adding the final touch with 22minutes gone.The remainder of the half was full of big hits from both sides as neither team could get the upperhand to create any clearcut chances.Before half time Coalville were down to 13 following two yellow cards for not rolling away offence and a no arm tackle the other.Loughborough came out second period all guns blazing but the visitors held firm for the first 15 minutes only to be pegged back by a penalty for the hosts and an unconverted try on 68 mins brought them to within 2 points.Two more sin bins one for each side as tempers flared sparked off a pulsating final ten minutes, George Blackburn added a penalty for the visitors five minutes from time and held on for the win.Coalville captain Will Quail said after the match "a great defence throughout the game was concise in our victory".Coalville next in action on 18th Feb at home to Market Bosworth KO 2.15pm
