The first team continue push for promotion

League leaders Melbourne were the visitors to the Memorial ground at the weekend seeking the double over Coalville. However, the home side had other ideas with some big hits, notably from centre Richmond coming in the first 20 mins. The forwards not to be outdone were in total command of scrums, lineouts and at the breakdowns.
Some desperate defending by the visitors though kept the home side out until Twigg scored the try after a scrum 5mtres out Blackburn added the extras for 7-0. Twigg was again on hand 5 mins later after a move started in the home half led to some great handling by forwards and backs culminating in the score, Blackburn obliged with the conversion 14-0. The last 10 mins of the first half had Melbourne in the Coalville half for the first time in the game but their 10 squandered attempts at putting them on the score board missing 2 easy penalties.
The second period followed the pattern of the first with the visitors on the backfoot from the off as Jake Moretta and Rumming made inroads into Melbourne territory well supported by Parker, Flanaghan, Sam Gadsby,Quail, Chamberlain and Freer [AKA the forwards]. A 25 meter maul from Coalville was brought down for Blackburn to convert the resulting penalty 17-0. On 50 minutes Twigg and Harrison were substituted on came Davies and Keeling, switching Griffin to the wing and Freer to scrum half. A lapse in concentration let in Melbourne for a converted try by Stark conversion Holden 17-7. Normal service resumed on 53mins as Rumming was put through by a combination of Freer, Joe Moretta and Argyle with some slick passing and great lines. The flanker with still a lot to do though crashed his way over 22-7. With Coalville now in complete control it seemed inevitable that the bonus point score would come with some 15
mins to go but somehow the visitors held out even losing Hall to the sin bin 5mins from time,Coalville`s Ben Argyle was awarded man of the match with Page for Melbourne.Coalville stay third sevenpoints behind Melbourne with 4 games to go.
