Despite several changes, Coalville get over long journey to seal 5 points against newly promoted Bakewell

Coalville made several changes for the trip to Bakewell on Saturday with Tom Logue, Eddie Rotstein, Chris Flanagan, Sam Gadsby and Jack Tointon all returning to the squad after the poor performance against Ashbourne. The match was played at Sheffield Tigers ground, under a bright October sun.
The Memorial ground side got off to a great start, with Matt Twigg`s solo effort from just inside the visitors half, putting the visitors ahead after 7mins. Bakewell levelled 10 minutes later through a driving maul, as after repeated instances of poor discipline, Coalville were down to 14 after a yellow card for Billy Measures. Coalville`s pack, spear headed by the front row of Jake Moretta, Sam Massarella and Chris Flanagan, held the upperhand throughout the game winning most of the break downs and dominating the set pieces. Matt Fisher restored the lead for Coalville on 28mins put in by Joe Moretta`s offload. On the stroke of half time, the away side gave themselves breathing room, when Will Keeling ran the perfect line to touch down for Coalville to go in 19-7 at the break.

The start to the second period saw Coalville in the ascendancy pinning the hosts back in their own 22. However, Coalville's indiscipline then lost Massey to the sin bin to put a temporary halt to Coalville's dominance. However, Coalville made a positive response as Moretta again unleashed Fisher from halfway to notch his 2nd try to extend the visitors lead. At this point Coalville sent on Messrs' Joel Wallace, Sam Gadsby and Jack Tointon in order to keep the momentum going. Bakewell were then guilty of killing the ball leading to a yelow card, with Wallace making the numerical advantage count with a try. Jordan Gadsby`s break from the 22 was halted short of the hosts 22 but help was on hand as Shane Upton-Burton took up the charge to release Tointon to cross over the whitewash. In the final play of the game, Coalville produced the move of the game, going through several hands and phases to allow Keeling to add his 2nd try of the match, ending with 22 points by converting 6 of the 7 tries.
Post match comment from captain Will Quail "the front five were outstanding today and deserve the men of the match tag".
