Miserable day at the Elks for Coalville

Coalville made the trip to Ilkeston on Saturday in what looked like a very difficult contest for the visitors as the Memorial Ground side were severely hampered by the unavailability of ten players.
The home side struck first with a converted try on 4 mins after some woefull defending from the visitors and to add insult to injury Will Keeling went off with a suspected broken nose but returned some 15 mins later.Danny Freer replied some 5mins for Coalville with a try in the corner.Honours fairly even at this stage with both defences on top.Two tries before the break put the hosts in control l9-5.
The second period had the home side playing down the slope with the breeze and the crowd behind them and soon had the next score on the board.Coalville then made changes as on came Nathan Harrison,Daniel Claypole and Alex Collins as Coalville`s Michael Richmond finished of a flowing move to score in the corner,Keeling added the extra`s on 47 mins to trail 26-12.Ilkeston added a penalty on 5 0 mins to lead by 17 points.Coalville`s tackle count mounted as they were repelling most of the Ilkeston attacks but were visibley tiring,this took its toll as Ilkeston ran in four tries in the last 10mins for a final score of 49-12.A spokesman for Coalville said "although we lost today we take some credit with 10 or so players missing it was always going to be a tough game but in the end fitness told ".
Coalville`s next fixture is the home game in the 1/4 final of the Intermediate Cup against Whitchurch on 28th Nov kick off 2pm
