Coalville played their first game for a month due to postponements when they visited Dronfield in Midlands 2 East[North] last Saturday.
The home side had the advantage of the large slope in the first half hoping to rack up a big score before the turn round, but the Memorial ground side had other ideas restricting the hosts to just three penalty goals. Coalville`s Joe Rumming responded by scoring the only try of the half leaving a score of 9-5 to the hosts at the break.
The visitors started the second period on the front foot with Matt Twigg seeing a gap in a ruck and bursting through to touch down, with Will Keeling added the extra two points. Ten minutes later Keeling ran the perfect line to notch Coalville`s third try of the match,Covertimg his own try allowing the visitors to take a 9-19 lead. Twigg again proved to be the thorn in the Dronfield side racing half the length of the pitch to score in the corner for a bonus point try and a fifteen point lead with an hour gone. The final twenty minutes saw the hosts throw everything at the Coalville line but the visitors kept them out with some heroic defence for a final score of 9-24.
Coalville captain Will Quail said after the game "This was our best performance of the season so far with our defence on top form".
Coalville are away at league leaders West Bridgford this Saturday ko 2.15 pm.
