Coalville travelled to second in table Matlock at the weekend with both sides missing key players,the result resting on strength in depth.
After nine minutes the Memorial ground side took the lead when Jordan Gadsby playing at ten hacked on a loose ball some forty metres out,the Matlock defence parted like the waves of the red sea as Gadsby dotted down in the corner,Gadsby then stepped up to knocked over the conversion for 7-0.Matlock levelled matters though ten minutes later with a converted try,7-7.Coalville took control for the second quarter as Joe Rumming and Shane Upton-Burton put in match winning performances setting up Matt Twigg with the score 12-7 and Rumming himself finishing off Coalville`s third try,Gadsby adding the extra two points for a half time score of 19-7 to the visitors.
Ten minutes into the second period Matlock went over for an unconverted try 19-12.Straight from the restart Daniel Claypole won the ball to send Stewart Tang in under the posts for Coalville`s bonus point forth try,Gadsby again added the conversion 26-12.Joel Wallace put the visitors firmly in the driving seat on the hour mark finishing off a flowing move for 31-12.Two converted tries from the home side certainly flattered the hosts in the last three minutes as Coalville took their foot off the gas,but all said a great victory for Coalville 31-26.
