COALVILLE 27 v PAVIORS 32

Coalville entertained Nottingham side Paviors at the Memorial ground on saturday in what turned out to be a close encounter and a great advert for the game.Straight from the kick-off Coalville were awarded a penalty as Pavs were caught off side Sam Blackburn struck it well for a three point lead.A deep restart by George Billam had Stuart Tang knocking on and from the resulting scrum Billam touched down after a well worked move.Another infringement by Pavs gave Blackburn a shot at goal but the young fullback pushed his effort just wide, however five minutes later he slotted over a conversion after a great try from Billy Measures who was put through by scrum half Matt Twigg.Pavs added a penalty from Billam before the unfortunate Blackburn missed a difficult penalty and had a clearance kick charged down enabling Matt Brewer to pounce on the ball,Billam added the extras the same player then also missed a penalty before Pavs centre Chris Oswin completly deceived Coalvilles defence with a dummy pass to score under the posts Billam added the conversion,to put Pavs 22-10 ahead.Just before the break Blackburn had a chance to reduce the lead from a long range penalty but was again wide with the effort.
The second half started with Coalville in the acendancey with strong running from Joe Morretta and Adam White causing havok in the visitors defence and from one of these runs Matt Chamberlain crossed over to score,Blackburn added the conversion.Billam replied for Pavs with another penalty.Back came Coalville with the forwards encamped in the Pavs 22 searching for an opening but to avail as away side weathered the storm.Play then switched from end to end with both sets of forwards battleing for supremacy Coalvilles pack coming out on top on numerous occassions from which a flowing move involving forwards and backs saw White score easily only for the referee to dissallow the try for a forward pass given from 30 mts behind the play. This upset Coalvilles rythem and it showed when against the run of play Pavs Jaz Kelly scored a brilliant try as it started in their own half with some great hands from the backs Billam added the extras to lead 32-17 with 20 minutes to go.Coalvilles never say die attitude burst into life and went on the rampage to get something out of the game forcing Pavs back on defence for long periods and with 5 mins left on the clock Blackburn finished off a move started by Dave Mayne.A final flourish from Coalville gained them 2 bonus points as Micheal Richmond darted through the Pavs rearguard for his 6th try of the season,
