COALVILLE`S home game with Ilkeston was transferred to the 4G pitch at Leicester Forest`s ground last Tuesday,for an evening kick-off,due to the Memorial ground once again being waterlogged. Coalville were the first on the scoreboard with a try from Chris Flanagan on 15 mins as Coalville`s line out worked well and Joe Rumming made good ground for the score. Ilkeston hit back 2 mins later though being awarded a penalty try after a high tackle some 10 mtrs out 5-7. Coalville`s 2nd try came from a spirited run by Joe Moretta opening up the Ilkeston defence for Danny Freer to finish off the move, Will Keeling added the extra 2 pts 12-7.On 22mins Jordan Gadsby struck with coalville`s 3rd try after great work by Freer and Eddie Rotsein put the scrum half in 17-7.Ilkeston`s strong running centre brought them to within 3pts on 33mins with a fine individual try and conversion.On the stroke of half time Josh Breen finished off a flowing Coalville move to put the "home" side 8pts to the good and the try bonus point.
The second period started at a fast pace as both teams relished playing on the perfect surface,and on 48mins Ilkeston were awarded a try although it wasn`t clear if the ball had been grounded.22-19.On 55mins Flanagan claimed his 2nd try of the game and Coalville`s 5th to restore their 8point lead.Two penalties on 60 and 67 mins for the visitors brought them to within 2pts.Both sides continued to attack at every opportunity as Coalville`s Michael Richmonds drop goal with 10 mins to go gave them a 5point advantage.Once again Coalville`s defence were pushed to the limit but the visitors were kept out for a fine victory 30-25.
