Coalville win three in a row to move up the table

The arctic like conditions last weekend didn't bow well for an expansive game of rugby as both Coalville wingers Michael Richmond and Joe Moretta saw very little of the ball as the forwards kept it between themselves for long periods. The visitors came to the Memorial Ground on the back of three out of four wins looking to extend their run.Wes Syed took over at scrum half for his second start of the season.
Vipers kicked deep from the off with the strong breeze behind them,Jack Follows returned the kick with interest a feat he continued throughout the game to earn him the man of the match, the only blemish being a high tackle on the Vipers fullback resulting in a lecture from the referee.Coalville's forwards gained metre upon metre with their pick and go routines right up to the Vipers try line, but a knock on at the final surge and the chance was gone.Vipers cleared their lines well with a wind assisted kick to the hosts 22.Coalville were guilty of being offside and the visitors took the lead with the penalty.More forwards play from the home side as they edged into the Vipers 22 and George Blackburn levelled the score with a penalty.Coalville continued the onslaught on the visitors line and once again Blackburn added another penalty for a 6-3 lead and with the half time approaching Coalville launched another barrage on the Vipers line but lost the ball and the visitors cleared well into Coalville's half where Liam Nelson gathered and set off on a run evading several would be tacklers to touch down under the posts,Blackburn added the conversion for the interval score 13-3.
One change for the hosts as Joel Wallace made way for Joe Rumming who was soon in the action breaking the gain line on a few occasions. On 57 mins Rumming made the break through with the try, again Blackburn added the extra's 20-3.More changes for Coalville,Chris Flanagan and Joel Pennington on for Henry Rotstein and Wes Syed the latter for an injury. Two yellow cards for Coalville gave the visitors some hope of a comeback but the hosts weathered the storm to run out winners.
Coalville next in action on Feb 16th at home to Huntingdon&District ko 2-15pm.
