Coalville welcomed Huntingdon & District (Stags) to the Memorial ground last Saturday hoping to avenege the defeat from earlier in the season,the Stags sit at the base of the table at the moment so they were looking to do the double over the hosts to avoid back to back relegations.The game was preceded by a VP luncheon of some 70 guests.
Coalville had a slight breeze behind them from the kick off,a missed tackle in midfield let in the Stags with barely a minute gone to touch down in the corner for 5-0.The visitors with their tails up were making headway deep into home territory but some strong tackling kept them at bay.10 minutes in G.Blackburn slotted over a penalty to open the hosts account a minute later the Stags were reduced to 14 for a high tackle.Coalville then went into overdrive scoring 4 tries in 15 minutes L. Nelson,E. Rotstein,J.Gadsby and Joe Moretta the scorers to claim the bonus point,Blackburn converting 3,for 29-5.Stags hit back with a converted try.On the stroke of half time J.Follows went over for Coalville's 5th try converted by Blackburn,Stags received a second yellow card at this point.
Three changes for Coalville brought on J.Tointon,A.Collins and J.Rumming,and after a slow start S.Upton-Burton notched the 6th converted try for Coalville as Rumming made the opening with a 30 metre run.The Stags got their 3rd try on the hour mark converted to leave the score 43-19 to Coalville.Into the last quarter and J.Tointon nipped in to score,followed by man of the match and captain M.Richmond's try,both converted by G.Blackburn.The Stags grabbed a bonus point try with 10 minutes to go.A fine run by Joe Moretta took him to within 10 metres of the whitewash but unselfishly put S.Upton-Burton in for his 2nd and Coalville's 9th try to give the hosts their biggest win of the season 62-26.
