Memorial ground team happy with result, but not performance

Newly promoted Ashfield was the venue for Coalville at the weekend as the Memorial ground side looked to extend their unbeaten start to the season and with the hosts winless and sitting on the bottom of the table, the outcome looked promising for the visitors.Coalville's starting line up was unchanged from the victory over Ashbourne a fortnight ago, with the Moretta brothers Joe and Jake on the bench along with Nick Massey. On a over cast afternoon with a slight breeze and on a perfect surface to play on Coalville were soon into their stride with two converted tries on the board within the first ten minutes,Jack Wickwar and Eddie Rotstein the scorers and Will Keeling adding the extra's.The visitors were in total control as wave after wave of excellent handling had the hosts hanging on for dear life and finding it very difficult to halt the onslaught turned to some illegal play resulting in the home 12 spending ten minutes in the sin bin.Coalville were then awarded a penalty try on the half hour to lead 21-0.No sooner than the hosts were back up to full quota two more yellow cards were issued for further indiscretions, which seemed to affect the visitors more than the perpetrators as their game plan went from bad to worse, the half time whistle came with both sides making untold errors when in scoring positions.
One change for the second period as Jake Moretta came on for Henry Rotstein,Coalville's start to the second half mirrored the end of the first with handling errors plentiful.Ten minutes in on came Massey and Joe Moretta and back to 15 a side now,as Coalville upped their game a flowing move from a scrum on half way ended with a try from Zak Fellows in the corner to earn a bonus point with an hour gone.Coalville then lost Will Quail to the sin bin.Into the last five minutes Joe Rumming rounded off the scoring with his trademark try bursting through to dot down under the posts,Keeling with the conversion finishing off the procedings.A spokesman for Coalville said after the game "Not the greatest of games littered with errors and yellow cards galore, but winning when not at your best allows you to put things right next time".
Coalville at home next against Notts Casuals on 26th October.
