Coalville 2nd XV started the day with high hopes of putting last seasons woes behind them, and they certainly did that against a powerful Belgrave team. Connor Beasley started the scoring off with an early penalty to calm Coalville's nerves, soon after Jamie Patchett put Coalville's confidence through the roof finishing off a fantastic team try. The first part of the half was then pretty even with Belgrave pulling the score back to 8-5 with a breakaway try.
With ten minutes of the first half left Coalville's youth and fitness started to take over with Tom Hartley scoring the first of his 4 tries , a brilliant start to the season for the 19 year old proving to be a huge potential talent for Coalville in the future .
With Coalville having a strong 30-5 lead towards the end of the match the forwards wanted a piece of the action following the backs scoring all 5 tries , with a lineout on the 5 meter Coalville's forward pack powered over for the icing on the cake to a fantastic game , finished off by Daniel 'Caveman' Hanna scoring Coalville's final try .
The game ended with Belgrave scoring a consolidation try ending the game 35-12 .
Captain Daniel Hanna said "After struggling to even field a team last season for the 2s the commitment, intensity, aggression and wanting to win today was exactly what was needed to start this season."
Manager Pete Roberts added "I'm chuffed how well the whole squad played and the diversity of a winger scoring 4 tries, and the forwards scoring a driving maul shows our depth all over the park."
