What a fantastic way to end the season!!
It all started on Saturday 27th as we headed down for a return fixture to Paviours RFC who we had played a couple of weeks previously.
They had very kindly helped us out following a couple of last minute logistical hiccups.
It was a great day. We all got there about 1pm and started to warm up. Following the performance a couple of weeks before everyone was determined to put in a much better performance, and boy did they deliver!! 3 games were played over the course of an hour and we competed magnificently in all 3, scoring several wicked tries and winning all 3 games!
After that we helped support the Paviours first team as they won promotion to the Midland Premier League. There is not doubt of course that it was our support & guard of honour as the players ran out that was the key factor in their performance. :)
A short trip to Lincoln was in order after that to the hotel where we were due to spend the night and also have a Rugby "family" meal
The hotel & food were fantastic value, and its fair to say that the decor of the restaurant in particular was great. Some of it wouldn't have looked out of place in our own houses.
We settled straight in. Everyone was great company and it was a lovely send off for the 3 girls who will be moving on next season.
It was an early start on the Sunday morning as we had a festival in Newark to go to. A whole morning of Rugby against several teams we had never met before. Several games were played. Some wins, some losses. Lots of tries scored and also a couple of our players picked out for their stand out performances by the referee.
At the end, there was a few tears from the girls as they realised that this was the last time they would play for Coalville RFC. However, its only the end of the start of their Rugby journey, where I'm sure they will go on and achieve great things both in & out of the sport. For the boys, its all change too next season. A different coaching set up and the move up to the under 12's lie in wait.
I'm sure they'll continue to thrive.
