4 Seasons in one day!!

A request to attend a festival of rugby can never be turned down, prior to match day the winds and rains from Storm Gareth raised a few questions but the morning bought glorious sunshine and games on with 17 players!!

Summer- sunny and warm.
The first match against Sheffield started without the usual motivation speech from Coach and sadly that showed in the game play, cold hands and a few opposition strong players and we were soon tries down.

Spring- cloudy with a strong breeze
Game 2 bought Melbourne and after a few words of encouragement and tactics from Coach and the team were back to their usual, hard tackles, strong rucking and tries a plenty.

Refreshments of bacon and sausage cobs, cookies and hot chocolate and energised for the next game.

Autumn- starting to cool down and a fresh breeze
Game 3 a local rivalry game against Ashby with some very strong players, we equally matched them and defended well, listening to the guidance from the side-lines and keeping our heads when becoming frustrated.

Game 4 against West Bridgford saw a well-matched game with some brutal tackling, and great running to match their rucking game. Some intelligent play took advantage of some slow responses from West Bridgford to our advantage.
An award-winning, unintentional, face charge from one player has been awarded £100 from You’ve Been Framed.

So strong were our players and impressed were Keyworth that three of our players were asked to join their team for a bonus game as they were short. Our players added skills and passing to support them in matching the oppostion.it was good for them to experience a different team and see who the other teams play.

Winter- Sleet/Hail and a bitter wind

Final game against Loughborough bought the highlight of the day- kick, run, chase and ……miss the touch down!!! The grown and laughter from both sets of spectators and players was audible back in Coalville.

Luckily the same player was soon straight off the mark again and in his usual style blitzed the field with a try only a few minutes later.

Overall a day played through all seasons of weather with team-spirit and laughter, at other expense on occasion, but together as a team. Players keen to play at all times and a fair spread of game play for all.
Next week is a home game against Pinley, hopefully with some sun.
